The Maginot Line, built between 1929 and 1939, was made up of several types of fortified works. In 1939, before the outbreak of the Second World War, it comprised a total of 106 blocks:

62 infantry blocks
In addition to these main blocks, the line also included 365 casemates, 89 shelters, 17 interval observatories and numerous small blockhouses.
